Subject	How necessary are rear speakers?

Message	For all you sound guru's. I'm replacing the BOSE system simply because I need a cd player and the tape player won't even work. I'm going with the Alpine 9813 HU and some JL audio front speakers. To save some $ the guy who will be installing the stereo said that I could get away with only having front speakers. Does anyone run this setup now? just a head unit powering 2 front speakers? how much of a sound difference is there? I'd test it out myself, but the BOSE stereo doesn't have rear speakers hooked up. The previous owner cut the wires (dont know why, dont care).
